1. What is the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)?
The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an official entry document that foreign travelers must obtain before entering Kenya. It replaces traditional visas for most travelers and simplifies the entry process by allowing online applications.
With an approved eTA, travelers can visit Kenya for tourism, business, or transit purposes — without visiting an embassy or consulate. The eTA offers a faster, simpler, and more convenient travel experience.
2. I have a diplomatic passport. Do I have to apply for an eTA?
Yes. Holders of diplomatic passports who are members of Diplomatic Missions or International Organizations accredited to Kenya are required to apply for an eTA before travel.
3. Do I need to pay for my eTA as a diplomat?
If you hold a diplomatic passport, you are not required to pay the standard eTA fee. However, if you prefer priority or expedited processing, a service fee may apply for faster handling.
4. We are traveling as a couple or group. Is one eTA enough for all of us?
No. Each traveler must obtain an individual eTA. However, you can conveniently apply as a group using the “Apply as a Group” option during the application process.
5. How do I apply for the Kenya eTA?
Applying for a Kenya eTA is quick and completely online:
- Visit the Application Portal – Start your application on our website or the official Kenya eTA system.
- Complete the Application Form – Enter your personal details, passport information, and travel plans.
- Upload Required Documents – Attach your passport copy, photo, and other supporting documents.
- Pay the Required Fees – Submit both the Kenya Government fee and service fee (if applying through a private consultancy).
- Submit Your Application – Review your details carefully before submission.
- Receive Your eTA – Once approved, your eTA will be sent directly to your email. You may print or save it digitally for travel.
6. What documents are required for an eTA application?
Typical requirements include:
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity with at least one blank page)
- Passport-style photograph or selfie
- Contact details (email address & phone number)
- Travel itinerary (arrival and departure details)
- Accommodation booking confirmation
- Payment method (credit/debit card or other accepted options)
7. How long does it take to process an eTA?
The standard processing time is usually within three (3) business days (72 hours).
However, depending on verification and government review, some applications may take longer.
For urgent travel, expedited or priority processing is available for faster approval.
8. How can I track my eTA application?
You can easily track your eTA status by clicking the “Check Status” button on our homepage and entering your reference number received via email after submitting your application.
9. Can someone apply on behalf of another traveler?
Yes. An applicant can apply on behalf of another traveler, provided all information and documents are correctly submitted. Please indicate that you are applying on someone else’s behalf during the submission process.
10. What should I do if I made a mistake in my eTA application?
If you notice an error after submitting your eTA application, please contact our support team immediately with the correct details.
Once the application has been submitted to the official system, corrections may not be possible, and a new application might be required.
11. Is my eTA fee refundable if my application is rejected?
No. Both the Kenya Government eTA fee and the service fee are non-refundable, regardless of the final outcome. This is because the fees cover administrative and processing costs incurred during application submission and review.
